Blended wing Body Aircraft design

The main objective of this UAV was to deal with the worry-some escalating COVID-19 pandemic. It was important that the medications and vaccines be transported around the world urgently. We focused on the more inaccessible and remote regions where cargo jets would have a hard time reaching. Hence, a small UAV was decided to be designed for this task. The specifications identified to be implemented due to the smaller mission are:

The UAV mission is classified into four phases:

    1. Acceleration from standstill at sea level to an airspeed of 42 m/s with a Gross takeoff weight of 56kgs. This is 1.48 times the stall speed of 28.34 m/s.
    2. In order to reduce flying time for emergency drug delivery, climb to a cruise altitude of 6000m at the fastest ascent rate.
    3. Travel on a “out and back” course at a cruise altitude of 6000m for a maximum range and minimum endurance of 3 hours.
    4. Descend and land.

The aircraft specifications are:

I’d like to acknowledge and thank my project partners who worked with me on this design. Vishesh, Devendar, Namana, Vivek, Suman, Varun, and Vaishnavi it was a pleasure working with you.
